Up for sale is a neat appointment of Charles Cole to the position of Captain of the Sixth Company of Infantry in the 42nd Regiment of Militia in New Hampshire. It is dates April 21, 1851. Signed by Governor Samuel Dinsmoor Jr. and Secretary of State Thomas Treadwell. The Treadwell signature is a bit of a curiosity as he was supposed to have been out of office when this appointment occurred although the one was hand wand written in above the typed fifty (see photos) in the date and this could have just been something left over from his time in office. I am not positive the Treadwell signature isn\'t secretarial signed so for this sale and safety sake consider the only true signature to be that of the Governor.
Overall document isVG- some small tears at edges near folds. Other small pinprick size holes at folds. Wear. Seal present. On light blue paper measures approximately 10 x 14.
