This ship has beenpainstakingly recreated in die-cast and plastic materials then hand paintedwith an incredible level of detail. Vehicle measures approximately 5 incheslong x 3 inches wide x 2 inches tall (mounted on base).

The "UnitedSpace Ship Yorktown" (identified as SS Yorktown) was the name of thecentral starship in Gene Roddenberry's first Star Trek proposal to NBC in 1964.The ship was named after the USS Yorktown (CV-5), a World War II Americanaircraft carrier, which in turn was named after the last major battle of theAmerican Revolution, won in 1781 by a combined Franco-American army commandedby Gen. George Washington. Coincidentally, the historical World War II Yorktownwas a class sister of the historical USS Enterprise (CV-6), after whichRoddenberry ultimately named his starship.

NCC-1717 was theregistry number given to the Yorktown by Gregory Jein in his influential"The Case of Jonathan Doe Starship" article, published in the April1973 issue 27 of the T-Negative fanzine. Michael Okuda took his cue from Jein'sarticle and further propagated the registry in his reference work writings,most notably the Star Trek Encyclopedia.

This Star Trekstarship is a strictly limited-edition created exclusively for Comic-Con.Unlike the other issues in the collection, there was no magazine published forthis one.

The collectionfeatures a full range of Federation and alien vessels including sevenincarnations of the Enterprise; all the major Klingon vessels including theBird-of-Prey; Dominion; Borg; and Romulan ships and is slated to include about130 ships in total.
