This Misch Photo pose is among the most famous of Misch's Autographed Photos as it pictures Misch on duty guarding the Chancellor's Conference Hut days before Col. Stauffenberg's bomb and assisnation attempt of the German Chancellor during WW II and during Operation Valkyrie. (Had the German Chancellor held his meeting in the concrete bunker as planned, likely, even with one of the two bombs planned, all in the meeting would have been killed because the concrete walls and concrete ceiling would have contained the bomb blast. However, due to the heat of the day, the meeting was moved at the last moment to the wooden conference hut and as it was, with only the one bomb, the bomb blast was allowed to escape through the windows of the conference hut, sparing the lives of the German Chancellor and most of the participants in the meeting with the exception of 4 officers. As it was, by chance, Sgt. Misch happened to be in Berlin that day).***Sgt.Misch is said to be the "last witness" to the German Chancellor's life and the final days of the Third Reich. Misch was selected in 1941 to be the GermanChancellor'sbodyguard and communications specialist and he personally traveled with theChancelloracross the Reich to his different field headquarters and to Berlin. Toward the end of the War, Misch spent the last 100 days of the Third Reich in the Bunker in Berlin with the Chancellor. In the final days, even after most of theChancellor'sinner circle had fled the Bunker, Misch stayed behind until after the suicide of theChancellorbefore he attempted to break out of the Russian lines surrounding Berlin. After the War, Misch explained remaining at his post with theChancelloras "a matter of duty" and never questioned his loyalty to theChancellorhe fondly called "The Boss". During the breakout, he was captured by the Russians and spent 9 years in a Russian POW Camp before going home. Post War, Misch served as a consultant to several movies such as "The Bunker" and "Valkyrie". Though, he said the movies' writersembellished the drama of theChancellor'sfinal days, stating that "there was deafening silence as the end approached and not shouting matches as the films portray". Misch died at his home in Berlin in 2013 at the age of 96. In addition to the AutographedPhoto, COA (with Lifetime Money Back Guarantee for Autograph Authenticity), 4x6 Bonus Photo of Misch Post War signing autographs, a 4 Page Biography on Misch will accompany the purchase. This set is unique and historic that few people have or will have, and a GREAT conversation starter which will fascinate everyone.
