Photograph Notes: A poor quality example of this often photographed view, which shows a phase in the rationalisation of the trackwork through the station. (The opening of the Tyne & Wear Metro system will have removed many suburban services from Central station.) Compare with [[215064]] (1982) and [[3950092]] (1960).The train is a classic Inter City 125, many of which are still going strong today (2018).
