REDUCED VERY RARE 1955 Vintage GIRL SCOUT ALTERNATE INTERMEDIATE UNIFORM-SASH:
$100.00

Was $160.00 This is for a VERY RARE Vintage ALTERNATE INTERMEDIATE UNIFORM. As Girls entered Junior High, the age of Intermediate Scouts they wanted a more stylish outfit than just the Intermediate Dress. So ever mindful that current styling is very important to a teenager, an Official Alternate Intermediate Uniform consisting of a white blouse and Green Skirt was introduced in 1951. There are a lot of differences in this uniform from the 1963 Cadette Uniform-the placement of the pins, the tie, the No-Slip waistband of the skirt, the material, length and patch size on the skirt. Also the older Sash with the older Numbers, Council ID and patches on it. This particular uniform was introduced in 1955 because the skirt was made from a different material and had a coin pocket under a tab (earlier once did not have this, but had side pockets). I have posted a picture of the larger patch that is on this skirt with a picture of the 1963 cadette skirt patch which is a bit smaller. (this smaller one does not come with the uniform). The 6 Gored Skirt was trim fitting and made of dark green rayon acetate (different material from the 1963 Cadette uniform). Unfortunately it turned a bit “red” as it was worn and you can see the discoloration on the skirt in the pictures. It has a NON SLIP INNER WAISTBAND. It featured an ZIPPER on the side (the Alternate Senior skirt has a very rare side sliding adjustable zipper). The white blouse had a pocket strip with a green and yellow design and white trefoil buttons. On the Blouse is the World Association Pin only. The Trefoil Eagle Pin was now on the Tie. It was suggested that the Scouts choose the same uniform for their troop so they would all look alike. There weren’t any Identification Strips yet-they were designed for Cadettes in 1963. The Tie is red (scout troops could choose the color) embroidered GS on both ends same as the Intermediate Dress. The Hat is made in France of 100% wool and is in beautiful condition with the Cut out Trefoil design (the red, white and green cockage was available for Cadettes in 1963) . This uniform skirt is in pretty nice shape (the material of the skirts at that time-rayon gabardine faded to a streaky red color as the years progressed). The Badge Sash is has the Green Council Strip of the 50’s (Newburgh), the Troop Crest, #27, the Brownie Fly-Up Wings, 2 membership stars and 27 of the Earlier Badges on the Bright Green Material. This has been in my collection for over 40 years coming from a Smoke Free home. Please see pictures for Condition and Measurements. I take Pride in my uniforms taking the time to do research and make sure all the items are correct for that year. They are clean and Ironed.
