RARE CIRCA 1790 DUTCH BRASS "SKILLET" CHAMBERSTICKAn impressive candleholder; ranking among the largest, most appealing and best maintained examples of a rare form originating in the Low Countries at the close of the 18th century. Entirely bench-crafted including rivets securing the nozzle and drip pan. The long strip handle with rounded end and hanging hole is decorated with an incised line issuing stylized berry and star foliage. The convex pan with high gallery and rolled rim has a 12-sided medallion encircled by punchwork stars, circles and pointed ovals. A tall cylindrical nozzle with wide bobeche holds the candle and catches wax. The brass support rod has separated at its solder join with the handle base - of no structural or aesthetic consequence. The chamberstick is otherwise entirely intact and original, displaying handsomely. Please review descriptive information and study the photographs for details.
