"Hah,women!"Disgruntled by Snow White's request to clean up beforesupper, Grumpy walks out of the cottage, as seen in this layout drawing crafted masterfully by Bill Tytla (1904 -1968), one of the most renowned animators in Disney history.Rendered in graphite with colored pencil, this layout drawingwas done to plan for the scene at the 42:28 mark of Snow Whiteand the Seven DwarfswhenGrumpy exits through the door until he sits disgruntled onthe barrel,includes a detailed layout drawing of the outside area ofthe dwarfs' cottage.
This incredible drawing is a spectaculardemonstration of Bill Tytla's great skills, not only in planningfor the spatial positioning of the dwarf but also in his bodylanguage that communicates without dialogue exactly how Grumpy feelsabout washing before supper. Images like these, displaying Tytla'sgreat eye for motion and gesture, show us why Tytla was one of thefirst animators assigned to work on the iconic Disney animatedfilm! The layout drawing was created in colored pencil on 12-field5-peghole animation sheets, showing normal age-related toning. In EXCELLENT condition with minor handling and edge wear fromproduction.
