SHUGART STENCIL "Underground Railroad Conductor" VG. I'VE HAD CIVIL WAR SOLDIER STENCIL'S BEFORE BUT TO FIND ONE BY AN ABOLITIONIST IS VERY RARE. Your offerding on stencil only but part of newspaper and copied google info are included. The stencil is ZACH. T. SHUGART. I don't know if shugart was a friend or relative of the fanily. He isn't on the C. 10th IOWA VOL. INF. roster. This was wrapped up in a piece of old BELLE PLAINE, IOWA NEWSPAPER. This came out of a civil war estate sale of WM. H. STODDARD relatives. He was in the C. 10th IOWA VOL. INF. Metal construction. Measures 1 & 3/8 X 2 & 3/4". Just remember enlarged photos or scans tend to exaggerate any flaws.
