PAIR OF DINANDERIE VASES FROM THE EVOLUTION SERIES BY PAUL LOUIS MERGIER, 1920s14.5" (36.8 cm.) high, engraved with EVOLUTION mark of descending triangles and each numbered as a set “365/1805"; each inlaid with linear and geometric motifAttributed to Paul Louis Mergier (1891-1986) who designed many works for the Evolution series in the 1920's-30's in French art deco dinanderie style. The dinanderie technique, founded in the Flemish town of Dinant hundreds of years ago, involves the hand-shaping and inlay of metal (including brass, copper, bronze) into various objects.. Condition: Overall good condition, considering their age, with 3-4 tiny surface indents in each; the only noticeable one being in the last photograph: shallow - .25" deep - and 1.5" x .75'' in size.
