Hi all!This is a Beautiful Fossil Tooth from the Giant Extinct Ice Age Beaver (Castoroides ohioensis) from the Florida Pleistocene! These giant beavers, the largest known beavers and largest Rodent in North America during the Ice Age, grew to over six feet long and could weigh as much as 276 pounds! While they were semi-aquatic like modern beavers, the giants most likely didn't build dams. They went extinct about 11 thousand years ago at the end of the Ice Age. The tooth measures 1.57 inches (3.98 cm) with zero repair or restoration!
