Kimberlite is a pretty amazing and beautiful mineral which was propelled at rapid speeds from the earth's core in mini eruptions throughout millions of years. These eruptions created conditions for the Kimberlite pipes (channels of the volcanic activity) to carry diamonds and many other minerals to the surface. Kimberlite itself is made up of over 150 gems and minerals. Besides being famous for containing diamonds, Kimberlite polishes extremely well, displays nicely as a raw specimen, and is a favorite of collectors around the globe. It is commonly used as a medium for carving, and one may find everything form earrings to carved eagles to book ends made from it. We have spent decades mining and researching Colorado's geology to select the best locations to mine Kimberlite specimens. Each of or orders contains a random assortment of sizes of raw Kimberlite specimens mixed and matched for your order. Kimberlites for all of our orders are guaranteed to be unsearched and have only been cut to be extracted or to meet weight specifications for customer orders. You will notice that we do not even wet the specimens for the photographs out of fairness to our customers.Kimberlites form this region do yield beautiful diamonds which mostly range from very small to a maximum of 3 carats. Customers have found 1/4 carat to 1/2 carat blue diamonds and yellow & clear diamonds between 1/4 and 2 carats within our specimens worth $1,500-$4,000. Many customers find no diamonds on the surface or within the Kimberlite. Many keep it as a displayable specimen piece after reviewing the surface for gemstones as due to our access to large amounts, we are able to offer Kimberlite specimens far cheaper than our competitors who charge 4X-10X as much as we do for the same specimens form the same region.
