Up for sale is this giant clam shell. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This natural shell specimen measures approximately 14 3/8 inches long by 9 1/8 inches wide; with it in its natural resting position, it is about 5 1/8 inches tall. The shell weighs 8 pounds 15.9 ounces, unpacked. This would be a good addition to a seashell collection, or it would be a wonderful decor item.Identification
This shell is from a northern California estate. The history prior to that is not known. The exact species is not known.Condition
The shell looks good overall, as shown. Some of the edges look to have been finished off with grinding. There are some scattered, small edge flakes and chips. There are some dark hairlines in the shell, but the shell feels solid and stable. There are tiny black speckles, and the color and texture of the shell are as shown.
