Fossil Maryland State Shell Ecphora gardnerae (Wilson) Extinct Snail Shell Set:
This is the Maryland State Shell - Ecphora gardnerae from the Calvert Cliffs area, Calvert County, Maryland. This gastropod, now extinct, is Miocene in age and is from the Muricidae family. Very hard to find an intact shell as they are mostly broken by the pounding of the waves. Shell had damage to tip and operculum as is common for these due to the environment in which they are found. Please review the photos as they are a part of the description and show the actual item you will receive. This is a fairly large specimen measuring about 1.5 inches tall.
