Flow Blue Tureen by Henry Alcock and Co. in the Touraine pattern. Both the base and the lid are in remarkable condition for the age of the item, with no chips to either the lid or the edge of the base. The transfer printed design flows into the white background in a controlled manner and there is no slippage of the transfer which can sometimes occur during the production process. The gold trim is almost intact but there are one or two very minor places where it has rubbed with age and usage. There are no cracks and the crazing of the glaze is minimal.From the backstamp it seems fair to date this item as post 1900 (the inclusion of LTD was introduced at that time) and the factory closed around 1910. There is a partial design number under the printed backstamp.
