Thisis a fabulous specimen of Kainops raymondi from the Lower Devonian of Oklahoma. This distinct trilobite was found by Steve Hess in 1998 when he lived just a few miles from the dig site. This type of trilobite is differentiated from Paciphacops by the larger number of facets in the eyes. This prone specimen is quite large and nicely preserved. The striking bug is very 3-dimensional and exhibits fine detail. The granulose glabella is nicely displayed, and the compound eyes of the trilobite are quite evident. The thick-shelled, caramel-colored trilobite contrasts wonderfully with the light-colored matrix. The impressive bug is beautifully showcased on the semi-squared block of sculpted marlstone. This is a very collectible example of this large-eyed Phacopid trilobite from the Haragan Formation.
