This sphere contains ONE grass shrimp.Grass shrimp live 6mo to 13mo.This is an experimental enclosed saltwater ecosystem.It contains some macroalgae, sand, a shell, and a shrimp.I test each of my ecospheres for longevity before listing them up on .each sphere is made of plastic and sealed with aquarium safe silicone. These are experimental enclosed ecosystems. I personally have one with a shrimp in it that's been going for about a month with no problems and without opening it. There should be no maintenance required besides getting sunlight into the orb. (please put them in your window immediately after getting them in the mail, so the algae can start photosynthesizing.)If you at any time want to open the enclosed sphere to release the inhabitants or add water, etc. Please follow these instructions:
1) acquire a nail or some pointed metal object (a wood burner or solder gun works great too!)
2) heat that object up (matches, lighter, stove, etc)
3) use the object to poke a hole in the plastic that has air in it.
4) congrats! you now have access to the critters without damaging the sphere, and you can feed them and clean the water if necessary.please note: these are experimental enclosed ecosystems. you can do more research to see how these ecosystems may live if all inhabitants die. very interesting!If you recieve one ecosphere and it comes apart, leaks, gets smashed, or is somehow deformed, please message me and show me a photograph after you have gotten it in the mail. I will send a replacement at no extra charge.
