It depicts a horrific scene. The police commissioner of Montmartre Paris France oversees the clubbing to death of dogs in 1895. Boys watch and cheer. I believe this was at the height of the Rabies panics in Paris.An early look at animal creulty. Carving of F. Méaulle according to Ferdinand Oger's drawing.
The print is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 11 x 16 inches (28 x 40.5 cm). The picture fills most of the page, with a caption below. The caption is in French and translates the "Massacre of Dogs in Montmartre."The page is in excellent condition for its age. There is text/photos on the back of the print.
