From my cabinet an attempt to not just have Diatoms in neat rows. The difficulty is that with my little knowledge of photography I am not able to maximise the effect of the arrangement due to the fact that the specimens are truly Planktonic and have little silica and these specimens are difficult to mount due to their fragility. The sample was collected by me in a small lagoon called Prisoners cove in Bermuda and I was later informed that the name of the cove was due to the lack of soil, prisoners were not buried in soil but dropped in to the cove (Thank you Johny Cann!) The main genera are Bacteriastrum and Chaetoceros. The mountant is ZRAX which defines the Diatoms much better due to higher R.I.
