Burmese (Burmite) amber is difficult to acquire and has been dated to be Cretaceous in age (around 100 million years old) and would have been sticky resin during the time of the dinosaurs. Recently, a fascinating discovery was made of a portion of a dinosaur tail with feathers in burmite amber and another piece with a nearly complete, extinct baby bird was reported!

This is alarge, 10.4 gram or 52 carat, very rare piece of burmite (Burmese) amber that has abeautiful blue with pink color to it.Color depends upon how sunlight isstriking the piece.

Thispiecehasits front and part of its sides polished while the remainder is rough as it was mined from Burma (Myanmar).

The color appears best against a dark background in natural sunlight due to the natural, chemical fluorescent properties of the amber.

Allpictures were taken in natural sunlight to show the true color best.
