A scarce 130 year old blackglass FRASER embossed medicine bottle which originally contained Mercury Tablets for treating Syphilis and venereal disease.

Although this bottle doesnt have its original label on front....I\'ve had a couple before which read MERCURY PROTIODIDE, ONE OR TWO EVERY THREE HOURS; THE TONIC TREATMENT OF SYPHILIS ....

Bottle is hand blown in mold....hand tooled prescription ring lip....blackglass (so dark you can only barely see that it is dark violet purple when held in strong attic nice condition with no chips or damage. A nice clean bottle. Mercury was the normal treatment for syphilis and venereal disease in the 1800s. Doctors didnt realize the dangers of mercury and how mercury poisoning would kill the patient if the disease didnt. This is a scarce blackglass Fraser bottle made around 1880s. It does NOT have the Mercury Syphilis label....but I know that is what it contained based on other identical labeled Fraser bottles I\'ve had.
