This very rare example comes from the estate of the original owners grandson. While unfortunately having a missing barb on its spear point the real rarity and beauty is its shaft. The wood has been painstakingly embellished with metal(brass?) that seems to mimic the scales of a snake. Each small strip of metal was hand hammered into the shaft to form this intricately patterned grip.
While not being knowledgeable in these things we have researched as much as we could to find any link to a tribe, country or region that utilized this style and craftsmanship but to no avail...
