Experience the rich culture and history of Cambodia with these (2) Angkor Wat Temple rubbings featuring the ARCHERS, facing one another, beautifully framed and matted for display. The intricate details of the Temple's Hindu Epic Ramayana carvings are perfectly captured in tribute to the superb craftsmanship of the Cambodian people.
Per family lore, it is believed these were purchased in the late 50's/ early 60's. We chose not to take take them out of the frame to determine whether they were signed or not.
Angkor Wat is a Hindu-Buddhist temple, the largest religious monument in the world, and considered by some to be the 8th wonder of the world. The temple is admired for the grandeur and harmony of its architecture, its extensive bas-reliefs and for the numerous devatas adorning the walls. Angkor Wat was declared a World Heritage Site in 1992 by UNESCO. The Cambodian government created a management authority responsible for protecting the Angkor Archeological Park in 1995 which banned the creation and export of any more bas-relief rubbings as part of its conservation efforts.
