Available for purchase is a pair of signed press photos of President Lyndon B. Johnson taken during 1967 and 1968. These are ORIGINAL 9" x 7" press photos (not reprints) with stamped United Press International (UPI) information on the back side and paper captions attached to the bottom. They were taken during LBJ's presidency and are signed with what appears to be President Johnson's original signature. The signatures are definitely not part of the photo, as the ink is clearly on top of the photo surface. I took some closeups with the photo angled so you can clearly see this.The first photo is titled "No More Grease For His Hair", taken on September 27, 1967. The caption is related to a question he received about his hair growing more gray, which he attributed to no longer using grease on his hair, which made it look darker. The photo was taken while he met with British Foreign Secretary George Brown.The second photo is titled "Back to the Farm", taken on April 2, 1968. In this one, LBJ is sitting in a chair telling reporters that he plans leave the city and move back to the country, referencing his decision not to seek reelection. The photo was taken just before he gave some remarks at a ceremony to honor Agriculture Department employees whose suggestions for cutting costs resulted in taxpayer savings of $22 million.Although the signatures on the photos appear to be genuine, I have no certificate of authenticity and I'm not an expert on LBJ's signature. I can't discount the possibility that the signatures was done by a secretary or an autopen. Since there are slight differences in each signature, I don't think they would not have been made by the same autopen, which should replicate signatures exactly. I did compare the signatures to know LBJ signatures online and they look quite convincing. But I'm not an expert and you should use your own judgement.Condition of these LBJ press photos is VERY GOOD. The "No More Grease For His Hair" photo has a few brown spots that I was not able to easily remove (see closeup photo). There are no spots on the "Back to the Farm" photo. Overall, these original 1960s press photos look great and would make a fine addition to any presidential memorabilia collection. Please take a close look at the many photos I've provided and judge condition for yourself.
