This is a unique, awesome collection from the Smithsonian series Stieff Washington Inaugural Blazer Buttons, Smithsonian Series. This set of seven were made by Stieff to commemorate the inauguration of George Washington as President of the United States in 1789. These buttons are replicas of the original brass buttons that have the first President’s initials incised in script monogram letters in the center circle which was enclosed by the inscription “Long Live the President” in raised capital letters. A chain of thirteen links, each enclosing the initials of one of the thirteen original states formed the outermost circle. Made of Pewter & stamped with the Smithsonian Institution Stamp & the word Stieff engraved. Comes in original box. Larger buttons are just under 1” in diameter & smaller buttons are about 6/8 " diameter. Previously owned, good condition for its age, possibly some light, minor scratches, box has some scuff marks and wear. Please see photos for exact representation. I will ship within a day of purchase.
