When Obama was running for president the first time, he pledged to close the Guantanamo Bay operation and give the people therein a fair trial. That he has not done so is evidence of the massive power of the status quo. I think it is cruel and inhumane to incarcerate people for endless periods with no end in sight and no justice for all. I would like to see Guantanamo closed for good. It is a weight on the conscience of us all.
