There is no difference, it's a distinction invented by creationists.

You see, since evolution is undeniably observable over short, human-life time frames, they had to admit to a little evolution. Originally, it meant that there could be evolution within species, but not leading to the creation of a new species. But now that speciation events have been observed, both in the field and in the lab, macro-evolution is defined as the creation of a new kind. The term kind is purposely loosely defined so that creationists can change the definition, as needed, to protect their house of cards.

I've argued with creationists online for five or six years. I think I have heard every argument they've got, including the essays Rarebit posted here. All arguments are addressed on one or more science websites.
