Would you rather be wealthy would you rather be smart or stay as you are? To frame the question further: Wealth would be equal to Bill Gates $51,000,000,000.00 Smart would be, having an IQ of over 170 and holding at least four PhD's in fields of your choice. With either choice, ten years would be added to your present age. Of course staying as you are would be just that, no age increase.

One perceives that you have no empirical conceptualization of either wealth or intelligence. Drug runners routinely deal in $billions. A 170 IQ is not rare, for university math departments are loaded with them.
Be your own cause.

(the doc said I have less than three months)

Garry, I hope you aren't serious about the Three months.
Al - I'm sorry if you missunderstood the question. I wrote "An IQ of over 170" OVER 179. I'll leave it to one to pick a number that would impress. Second part of the question that you may have had a little trouble with; "Wealth would be equal to Bill Gates $51,000,000,000.00" That is wealth.

J6P, please explicate. In your cogency does choosing wealth negate having/retaining/losing "smartness"? Because if you have 51 Billion and are not "smart" then that is not so attractive to me... I would probably select to possess an "IQ" (whatever that means) over 170 with 4 PhDs; this encomium would most satisfy. I am under 30 so I can handle the ten year penalty.
Sincerely,
"My God, it's full of stars!" -2010

The wise one (if indeed I have one under your parameters, I'm not sure), would be to bequeath the Real Worth, $51,000,000,000.00, to my heirs; because an IQ of over 170, and holding at least four PhD's, in any field, has No Real Worth, or benefit, to any heir, successor, or assign. You can't even get rid of a college degree once you're branded with one (or four, as the case may be). I know this for a fact. For I've tried recently, and failed. Great thread j6p, many thanks.

Yes, less than three (3) months. Use the three months for what pleases you. Run those credit cards! Arrange for a positive and not unpleasant termination. Myself having died from 40% third and second degree burns on an ER gurney then an opiate overdose later on, I have two suggestions: 1) Go for the opiate overdose. Very placid. 2) Don't have nurses all around screaming at you and doing unpleasant things. DNR if there is nothing worth pursuing. Write a dated Living Will, have witnesses sign, and make yoru wishes explicit. Dead and returned is over-rated as an experience. Flat out dead evinces no evidence of being more interesting.

Many thanks Uncle Al, you're alright, that's why I rated you five stars ***** months ago. But then again, I rated almost everyone the same. Sorry you never liked my posts much. You're in good company, most didn't.
Bye.

That, Garry, is because you need to use those synapses for something other than oxidizing carbohydrates.

I'm kinda doubtful that university math departments are "loaded" w/ 170 IQs. True, math depts probably have a higher percentage than others. Maybe, say, the top N or so math departments in the world are "loaded" with 170 IQs.

GARRY DENKE: Hopefully you can get around and do stuff while the time permits. With all that talent you should be able to come up with a great parting wave that will make you feel better, if not good, and leave some thing special for memory. The doctors are not always right. Jim Wood
