Aussie cancer patients told to avoid soy New research in Australia has found that a high consumption of soy-based food can be harmful to cancer sufferers. The New South Wales Cancer Council says while soy foods can slightly lower the risk of contracting breast cancer, latest research shows that high doses of soy can actually stimulate the growth of existing cancer. A statement by the state council says research also found that soy supplements can interfere with breast cancer treatment. For the full article: Click Here

Never found the original link ... apparently it was pulled. But I found a related link that indicates some skepticism with respect to the results: Equally valuable.

The research referred to soy supplements/high soy consumption being unsuitable for women who had had or were receiving treatment for active breast cancer. Soy foods (with a much smaller hormonal concentration) for the general public was not the subject of the research.
