Vintage Art Deco Mexican Silver Amethyst Brooch Brooch 1930s + Pendant ConverterA important handcrafted Mexican Art Deco Era brooch dating from the 1930\'s and contemporary with William Spratling\'s involvement in the growth of the Mexican art silver movement. The brooch depicts a stylized sun/star with radiating rays flowing from a large cabochon shaped amethyst. Between the rays are trios of nopal cactus leaves, each topped with a cabochon amethyst \"tuna\" cactus fruit. Stamped on the reverse is \"Silver\" for metal content (tested as sterling silver) which dates the piece to the Deco Era along with the pin and hinge. At some point the pin clasp was replaced with a goldtone safety clasp (which shows some gold color loss). The safety clasp application has not effected the overall original design or appearance of the brooch front. Also stamped \"Mexico\" on the reverse indicating country of manufacture/origin. To make this item more versatile to wear, we are including a complimentary silver tone metal pendant converter which slips over the brooch pin to create a pendant bale with a 5 mm opening. The converter is centered by two silicon beads which keep the converter from moving from side to side on the pin back. Pleasesee extensive photos.
