About the steel: 440 has been called \"the industrystandard\" and \"The ideal compromise\" between ease ofsharpening and the ability to hold to hold an edge. 440 is hardenough to hold an edge but soft enough to sharpen easily with acommon whetstone. Unfortunately, the other knife companies likeBuck®, Case®,and Gerber have chosen toswitch to the lower carbon steel 420HC. The reason is that 420HCcosts less than 440. This knife can be hard to sharpen with anAluminum Oxide or ceramic stone but holds its edge much longer. Adiamond stone is recommended OR use our Maxim® Sharpener. The Tungsten Caroffere blades easily sharpen this steel and center youredge, eliminating the main reason people complain about being unableto sharpen a knife.

In1989, Jim Parker, with the help of other investors, bought the Caseknife company in Pennsylvania. He also owned the Cutlery World lineof stores which were scattered along the interstates. During the 1990recession, people stopped traveling and he was forced intoinvoluntary bankruptcy. Zippo lighter company bought his shares, converted the factory into a museum and started having Frost Cutlery®make their knives.

Thegood news is that Case has now re-opened the factory. The bad news isthat the new knives are assembled from parts made in China.

WayeahKnives & Tools Co., Ltd.is a professional manufacturer and exporter of knives & tools, located in Yangjiang, Guangdong, China. They have a modern plantdesigned and built under the supervision of people from GerberLegendary Blades.

Thenthey brought in some of the laid-off knife makers from CASE whotaught the people who make RoughRider knives®how to make them. These knives are of great quality, consideringtheir low price.

TheZippo®made knives can be identified by the blade tang mark. The “C” inCase has been given a long tail. As one of our local collectors said“I cuss a long-tailed Case.” Other customers who remember the oldCase knives have adopted the Rough Rider knives with enthusiasm.

Tryone. If you do not like it, send it back and we will refundeverything except your return postage.

“WayeahKnives & Tools Co.,Ltd. is a professional manufacturer and exporter of knives &tools, located in Yangjiang, Guangdong, China. Several years ago, they decided to build the world’s largest knife factory. To aid inthe building and set-up, they contracted Gerber. They then decided to produce the highest quality knives in the world. To this end, they located some of the master craftsmen who were laidoff when Casestoppedmaking their own knives in 1994. These master cutlers were invited tocome to China and teach the Chinese how to make the old Case knives. Some stayed only a short time but others now make their homes inChina, where they are still sharing their expertise. The knives arelargely handmade. One thing the Chinese have is plenty of labor.Absolutely no corners are cut in the search for perfection.
