Hand made wooden plaque of Saint DYMPHNA: patron saint of mental illness autism and incest. Created by David Ross 1985 for sufferers and their helpers. Egg Tempra and gold leaf on Gesso. Signed. Drilled hole with leather tie ready for hanging. Saint Dymphna was an Irish princess whose mother died. Her father, in his grief, became obsessed with her and wanted to marry her. She fled and continued to resist marrying him. Ultimately he had her beheaded and she was designated to be a virgin martyrs of the Church. Her feast day is May 15. Shipped First Class. 9x5 inches.
