This listing is for a pair of Royal Vienna style cabinet platesdecorated withNeoclassical motifs. Depicting Greco-Roman gods and heroes, these majestic plates are surelyimpressive. Featuring hand-painted gilt overlayin stunning floral patterns and extensive enamelbeading or stippling. Each piece also possesses three cartouches containing bundles of Dresden style flower bundles. Excellent, preownedcondition with no chips, cracks, orrepairs. Thepaintandlustrous gilt also remain vibrant despite the passage of time!
These cabinet plates measure approximately 9.5" in diameter.
Both RoyalVienna style plates are marked with an underglaze blue shield or beehive emblem, which denotesproduction by B. Bloch & Co, c. 1900.
In 1871, Bernhard Bloch founded B.Bloch & Co, located in Eichwald, Bohemia (now Dubi in the Czech Republic). The company produced decorative, household, and table porcelain and earthenware. B. Bloch was one of several companies that produced a Blue Onion pattern. It was a major manufacturer of majolica, one of the few Bohemian companies to continue majolica production after World War I. In 1920, the company became the Eichwalder Porcelain and Stove Factory Bloch & Co. The name was changed again in 1940 to Eichwald Porcelain, Stove, and Tile Factory.
