Penguin Classics Lot of 700 For Sale
Penguin Classics Lot of 700:
OK, here's the scoop!!!!I
I have collected these for several years - have found them in used bookstores all over the United States, one and two and five at a time, from the very first one, to the 700th! There are supposedly well over a 1000 of the Penguin Classics, perhaps more likely 1200 to 1500 (and sometimes I see where there are possibly upwards of 2000 total - but I've never gotten an exact number of how many there are?!!!).
But I know this: I have 700 of them, likely a solid 50% of them if there are around 1200 to 1500 of them.
New, they are anywhere from $11 (with most starting more like $14 and $15 and up to $18 and $20 perhaps for some) which means that these 700 would cost over $12,000 if bought new. Which puts my ASKING PRICE into perspective - a deal, deal, deal.
OK, here's how I've come up with the asking price:
I have bought many from basically $4 and $5 each, but most of the time I've paid about $6 or even $7 and $8 each, so what I've done here is this:
700 times $5 each is $3,500.
And I'm adding a $1000 premium for the years of my life with time and gas and "my life, ha!" scouring and searching every used bookstore up and down the east coast of the United States, etc, etc. hunting for them. In other words, I'd buy one at a time, or sometimes ten at a time, but basically there's HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS and more HUNDREDS of what bibliophiles and book lovers call "hauls!" :-). There's years and years of sweat equity in finding these treasures.
So, that's $4,500.
And is going to charge a 12.9% fee, so that's $580 - which I'll round down to just chalking that up to $500.
So, that puts me at an asking price of $5000 (on what would cost well over $12,000 new).
So, that's how I've derived at this asking price which I think is more than fair. I will kindly consider any FAIR offer, as I love a good story, and would love for them to have a good home where they are appreciated, but again, this $5000 I think is pretty fair, so am starting here (rather than a higher number).
AS FOR DELIVERY:
While I can box them up and ship them (that might not be as hard as I think it will be - it would be roughly a dozen boxes I suppose) - I think the best way to tackle this is for the purchaser to contact me with an email - and we figure something out. I am on the East Coast - so if the buyer is on the east coast, we could coordinate something. But any cost would be for the buyer to pay. But I am also creative - and will help out in any way I can. I'm easy going, so I suggest that any buyer or potential buyer could just contact me via email and we can kick-the-tires on how to make it happen, given whatever city you are in and I am in, etc., etc.
Also, here is a link on my website where the 700 titles are listed!!! (I also have my contact info on the CONTACT page of that website: without further ado, thank you for your time in reviewing this posting and I look forward to a possible sale of these wonderful, once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for any serious book lover out there of these classic, erudite, fun Penguin Classics. They are grand!!!!!!!!!!
