Nice Original Issue Mess Set, show all.....Set used with mess kit, BUT USUALLY MISSING FROM SETS FOUND TODAY.

Nicely styled. All 3 pieces are marked or dated in some way, \"U.S.\", 1917, Rock Island Arsenal, etc, which is nice. Especially nice is the knife, which is VERY RARELY FOUND. Also unusual on the side of the handle are a series of marks....intentionally put there, and intended to keep count of something.....meals? weeks in camp? battles? weeks/months overseas??

Very nicely made. Particularly nice look, and would be a great set for a re-enactor to use. Not the mess plate, just the 3 implements shown.
