Lower Palaeolithic - Rare UK found handaxe. c.450,000 BP.A rare and superb acheulean, elongated and twisted form handaxe.Produced on a good sized flake with the ventral face displaying the rare twisted form. The distal end has a somewhat waisted form with one lateral edge displaying the most fantastic, profuse retouch. The ventral face has retained cortex with, once again, profuse retouch along the main lateral edge. This is the finest example of twisted 's' form handaxe I've had. Very rare, a museum quality artifact.
