This vintage fob, considered to date to the late 1800s or early 1900s, was a souvenir of a flag presentation ceremony at the Newark, New Jersey, City Hall from the Junior Order of United American Mechanics (a rather strange name - for it never has had anything to do with mechanics!!) - which claims to be the oldest American-born patriotic fraternal group in the United States (founded in 1853). This fob has a detailed, three-dimensional design showing the Newark city hall, below which is the name of the structure and above which are the words FLAG PRESENTATION. At the top of the fob is the abbreviation for the organization (Jr O U A M). There is no mark for either manufacturer or metal content, but this fob is composed of a non-magnetic metal with a silver surface treatment. It measures approximately 1-5/8 x 1-7/8\" overall.

This fob is in very good condition, with light signs of handling, and it remains a bright silver color.The illustrations in this listingare photos of the actual item being offered for sale, serving as part of the description.
