The Oregonite is a rare gemstone quality orbicular jasper from the Illinois river area that was named and marketed by the Barnes family beginning in the 1920s (see copy of original marketing brochure).(NOT INCLUDED) This was the first use of the Oregonite title for a gemstone. They cut, polished and mounted the Oregonite gemstones to sell in their Grants Pass jewelry store for many years.
