Collectible One-Of-A-Kind MN Record Cold Temperature ThermometerEmbarrass VS. Tower MN For State Record Honors Continues OnYou are viewing the thermometer awarded to Richard Watson of Embarrass Minnesota for recording the lowest temperature ever in the entire state at -64 degrees on February 2, 1996. Tower MN recorded -60. Therefore, Tower is the lowest on the official documents; even though Taylor Thermometers are, at least as accurate as the so-called thermometers used by the National Weather Service and other “official” temp. readers. Photo number 5 shows a picture of the actual thermometer used on that bone-chilling day. Photo number 6 is the letter Taylor sent to Mr. Watson proving the thermometers reading from the National Institute of Standards and Technology of +- 2 degrees. Furthermore, the possibility of the +- of 2 degrees decreases substantially when the temperature reaches such extremes. Even with a full 2 degree inaccuracy, Embarrass would still have the record by 2 full degrees. On photo 7 is other Minnesota temperature records and a brief history of how George Taylor started making the precision Taylor thermometers.ITEM CONDITION: The thermometer is considered between very good and excellent. There is some light scuffing on the clear plastic globe. Otherwise the aluminum band, aluminum back is in excellent condition. It measures 12 inches in diameter and its depth/thickness (with the globe) is 2 inches. With the purchase of this one-of-a-kind thermometer you will own a piece of Minnesota history (with the Tower twist) that will garner endless conversations. You will also receive the original letter that has been laminated sent to Richard Watson of Embarrass Minnesota. And the only photo taken in February (photo 5).
