Union Army Sergeant and Lincoln avenger THOMAS P. "BOSTON" CORBETT scarce, large and authentic bold iron gall ink autograph on irregular cut paper. Corbett signs his name and inscribes with his rank "Loot Col 16th N.Y. Cavalry". A very scarce signature with very few verified and authenticated examples in existence.

CORBETT, a Union Officer, shot and killed ABRAHAM LINCOLN's assassin, JOHN WILKES BOOTH on April 26, 1865 after one of the largest manhunts in history. Corbett was initially arrested for disobeying orders, but was later released and considered a hero by the media and public for avenging the martyred President's death. Increasingly erratic, Corbett disappeared around 1888 and circumstantial evidence suggests that he later died in the Great Hinckley Fire in Minnesota in 1894.
