I purchased this case from the estate of Robert Hoxie Rutford (1933-2019) and now you can own the same case he took with him on his travels/explorations/geological research through Antarctica.

The case is in original condition and comes with a few sundries left in the zippered pockets and pictures denote condition. There are various stains, dents and scratches.

Zero Halliburton aluminum cases are noted for durability and this case has seen its share of travel as noted by the many decals from its various trips to the southern part of the world.

The case is roughly 26x6x18 inches. The case is unlocked and I did not test the lock.

Each of the section dividers has one of the elastic strap hooks off and one is missing.

If you want 'street credit' for being a real traveler then I can think of no better example than a case covered with expeditionary history.

Mount Rutford and the Rutford Ice Flow were both named in his honor.

Robert Hoxie Rutford(January 26, 1933 – December 1, 2019)[1]was a president emeritus and a former faculty member of theUniversity of Texas at Dallas. He was the second president of the University of Texas at Dallas from 1982 until 1994.[2]Prior to coming to Dallas, Rutford was a professor at theUniversity of Nebraska–Lincolnand served as its interimchancellorfrom 1980 to 1981.

He has been noted for his geological research on Antarctica.[3][4][5]

Rutford was a member of severalUnited States Antarctic Programexpeditions to Antarctica, and was the leader of theUniversity of MinnesotaEllsworth Mountains Party, 1963–1964. Rutford served as director of the Division of Polar Programs of theNational Science Foundationfrom 1975 to 1977.[6][7]

The 14,688 foot/4,477 meter-highMount Rutford, which is the summit of Craddock Massif in the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains in the Antarctic, was named for him in 2007. The 130 mile-longRutford Ice Stream, a "mile-thick, fast flowing stream" which drains part of the West Antarctic ice sheet into the sea, had previously been named for him.[8][9]

Rutford served as the head football coach atHamline UniversityinSt. Paul, Minnesota, from 1958 to 1961.[10]
