Captain Hawthrone Gray, Engineering Officer at Scott Field, Belleville, Ill., in a flight to break the world\'s record for altitude, became unconscious at 27,000 feet, 5 miles in the air. The record is 35,433 feet. He returned to consciousness on the descent when he reached 17,000 feet. Captain Gray says he will make 2 more attempts to break the record. Photo measures 6 x 8 inches. Photo is dated 03--1927.
