International buyers welcome! Pioneer aviation

For sale:From Henry Woodhouse Archive, early 1910\'s photo Hugh Robinson w/period stamp from the Curtiss Exhibition Company of New York City and period stamp from photographer w/period writing

It looks like this was a promotional photo for the Curtiss Exhibition Co. of their aviators.

Period stamp: \"Compliments of The Curtiss Exhibition Co. 1737 Broadway, New York City\"

Period stamp from photographer: \"Jones, Keyser Company, 142 W. 24th Street, New York\"

Period writing on reverse: \"Hugh Robinson\"

More modern writing on reverse: \"Hugh A. Robinson 1881-1963 Early Bird\" (I did not write this. Someone who went through this archive after 1963 wrote it.)

Hugh Robinson was one of (or was the) favorite hydroaeroplane aviators of Glenn Curtiss. Hugh Robinson was selected by Glenn Curtiss to be the first aviator to exhibit the Curtiss hydroaeroplane, and Glenn Curtiss sent him abroad to demonstrate the Curtiss hydroaeroplane to European governments. He was in charge of the Curtiss training school, was Chief Engineer of the Curtiss plant...goes on and on!

Hugh Robinson was award the silver plaque at the 1912 Monaco hydroaeroplane meet (the first one!).

Hugh Robinson was a pioneer aviator of many firsts!

From wiki: \"Hugh Robinson was a pioneer in the earliest days of aviation, combining his skills of inventor, pilot, and daredevil. Among other things, he is said to have been the third person to successfully fly an aircraft after the Wright Brothers in a plane of his own design and construction and the first person to make an air-sea rescue. His many firsts also include the first medical flight transporting a doctor to patient in Hammond, N.Y. in June 1912 and first U.S. airmail flight in 1911. Robinson also devised the term and art of dive-bombing.

In late 1910, Hugh Robinson became a pilot and chief engineer for Glenn Curtiss at Curtiss Aviation, North Island, California. There he coined the term and invented the tailhook system that helped make possible Eugene Ely\'s first ever flight, on January 18, 1911, to the deck of a ship, the USS Pennsylvania, by allowing the airplane to stop quickly and safely. This system is used by Navies worldwide to the present day. Robinson took part in Curtiss\' development of hydroplanes. In 1911 he took a hydroplane on the exhibition circuit, flying at demonstrations and fairs across North America and Europe.\"

Glenn H. Curtisswas simply one of the greatest inventors of the late 19th and early 20th century! He founded the Curtiss Aeroplane and Motor Company of Hammondsport, New York in 1909.

**There is no glare on the photo, any glare is my photography!**
