For sale:From Henry Woodhouse Archive, c. 1909 photo Etrich Taube Rumpler monoplane, the first mass-produced military plane in Germany, popular among Germany and its allies w/period writing and identifying writing on reverse. Invented by Igo Etrich of Austria; his designs were inspired byOtto Lilienthal.

NOTE: The markings on the scans on the faces and along the shoulders of the pilots DO NOT appear on the photo. I am not sure why I was not able to get a good scan. The photo is clear!

Period writing on reverse: "Rumpler Etrich"

Identifying writing on reverse: "First mass produced military plane in Germany. The "invisible aircraft", world's first stealth plane. 1909 Etrich Taube"

From wiki:The Taube was very popular prior to the First World War, and it was also used by the air forces of Italy and Austria-Hungary. Even the Royal Naval Air Service operated at least one Taube in 1912. On 1 November 1911, Giulio Gavotti, an Italian aviator, dropped the world's first aerial bomb from his Taube monoplane over the Ain Zara oasis in Libya.

Ignaz "Igo" Etrich (25 December 1879 in Horní Staré Město, Trutnov, Bohemia – 4 February 1967 in Salzburg, Austria) was an Austrian flight pioneer, pilot and fixed-wing aircraft developer.

Etrich went to school at Leipzig, where he came in contact with the works of Otto Lilienthal. His main interest was in aviation, the problems of bird flight. With his father, a factory-owner, he built a laboratory for developing aeroplanes. After the death of Lilienthal, Etrich's father acquired some advanced gliders.
