This great antique Edison “Standard Phonograph is in solid antique condition. I am unsure exactly what model number it is. It has its original tag still, but it only denotes a 1903 patent date and a serial number. The serial on this one is S357055, most of these 1903 models without an explicitly stated model numbers say they are a model B, but I am not sure. The tag is in great shape.

The unit needs a new belt, but I cranked the motor up, and it appears to hold tension perfectly & work exactly as intended. The motor turns freely, and is well lubricated, I have seen no rust on the motor at all. I have spun the cylinder with the reproducers bracket engaged, and it also advances freely, and the gears are also clean up top. The metal top table still has most of its original black paint, in good condition. The gold decals are also still present, with some vintage wear.

This piece comes with its crank, lid, and the unit itself. No horn or reproducer is included. The Wood of this case is solid, but with some finish loss. The gold front “Edison” script decal is near gone as well. There are no cracks or signs of separation at the joints on the case however, it is very solid still. Bottom is in good shape, and it even has its original feet. The lid of the case is in good shape, it has some tiny separation in one corner, and some very light crackling of the veneer, but it could be repaired and refinished as well. The top handle is in excellent condition. The grain in the golden oak casing of this piece is really great, and with a sand & stain, it would really pop the figuring.

Crank also included. Bracket to hold case open & the clips to hold the lid on are also present and functional. Machine is sold as-is, near complete; a perfect machine for restoring, it’s mostly there already!
