Important Sydney Laurence RPPC early Anchorage Alaska, sternwheeler at Ship Cr. Important Sydney Laurence RPPC early Anchorage Alaska
Anchorage, Alaska real photo postcard by none other than Sydney Laurence. Sydney\'s postcards of early Anchorage are very elusive. Here is a great view of a sternwheeler steamboat at Ship Creek. Title reads \"Lathrops Dock, Anchorage.\" Lathrop\'s Dock at Ship Creek. Sternwheeler Tyconda, Wrangell. circa 1915. I can\'t quite make out the sign on the long tent (looks like \"contractors\"), nor the lettering on the tent. Computer enhancement of these areas would likely allow them to be read.Stamp box: AZO triangles pointing up. Laurence\'s photography studio was from 1915-1916. Size: standard early postcard size, 3 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches. The signature at the lower left is Sydney Laurence\'s signature. It doesn\'t look like his signature on his paintings because he had to write it backwards on his postcard glass negatives, because when the negative was printed to photographic paper it would be reversed. He also had to write \"Lathrops Dock, Anchorage\" backwards. Try writing backwards, it\'s not easy!
A great image for the advanced Alaska collector. We have been members of the Ephemera Society of America for nearly 30 years. Please be advised that most of the offerding occurs in the LAST 5 SECONDS of the sale. But beware, if you are the high buyer with 10 seconds to go you probably won\'t be the high buyer in another 10 seconds. offer the maximum that you are willing to pay and you will be OK. will only use as much of your offer as is necessary to push you one price increment past the next highest buyer. Ask yourself this question, at what price will you not regret losing the item to a higher buyer. Too often I hear “I should have offer higher”.
I will only ship to CONFIRMED PayPal addresses.
This is an sale and all sales are final, unless I’ve made an error in the listing. _gsrx_vers_811 (GS 7.0.9 (811))
