Rare Northern Ohio Sanitary Commission (Soldiers Aid Society). The Soldiers Aid Society of Northern Ohio, became a branch of the United States Sanitary Commission. It was under the leadership of Mrs. Benjamin Rouse, president. To save postage the Society\'s mail was franked by a congressmen and sent \"FREE\". The society comforted and helped raise money for the soldiers passing through Cleveland and their families. The volunteers were conducting house to house canvasses for clothing, bedding and supplies to relieve destitute Camp Taylor in Cleveland.
