on your hypothetical. If you spit, I will move, or try and impose on your spitting. If we both have surviving in mind, we could co-operate, or thieving, I move farther away from you.
To cooperate allows trade, shared work and benefits. If you're gay I may have to move farther away yet, or trust you to have a handle on it, my being the only female in sight.
We can learn how to store, find, grow what we didn't know going into this 'situation', and, if we find others, we can barter and trade some more.
Good relationships, good business, good friends with good returns. Lot of IF's there however ...
