I love it when you quote Paul Simon lyrics

Re: How to put more in less (Amaranth Rose)

"How terribly strange to be seventy."

Interesting technology but I question the practicality. I have no problem creating the first interference pattern inside a transparent medium. My problem is in creating the second through the first. The first pattern is going to interfere with creating the second unless the second is closer to the lasers than the first. Then we have the problem of reading the data back. Again, with a transparent medium we shine the reference laser in and there it is. But when we try to go through one layer to get to another and then have the result come back through other layers…

And what is this business about simultaneously reading and writing millions of bits at a time? Wouldn’t you need millions of lasers so that each could read/write their bit? How do you multiplex a single coherent beam?

I'll stick to the 59th St. Bridge (Feelin' Groovy.)
