Re: ... then put your tail between your legs (last response) (Bill Gill)

Unfortunately we can't always pick and choose the specific positions we will defend and those we won't. The ORIGINAL subject was neocreationism. It progressed to letting students select the subjects to be taught. That's a long way from the merits of neocreationism but that is where I joined the conversation. You want to get very specific that students (or anyone else for that matter) shouldn't be allowed instruction in the tenets of creationism. You base your position on an objection to all religion. I am simply pointing out that if that is your foundation then you are also prohibiting all discussion of global warming.

As far as global warming being religious, what religion are you talking about?

I’m talking about the religious faith that declares a belief in something without proof. I’m talking about the religious faith that ignores all evidence that disagrees with the preconceived notion of correctness. I’m talking about the religious faith that produces a crusade to save humanity from itself no matter the number of humans that have to die in the process. Global warming is just as much a religious belief system as Islam.

I think this discussion has gone about as far as it is worthwhile to take it.

Seeing no movement or attempt to understand, I would have to agree. You believe that it should be illegal to teach anything that you don’t personally believe and I believe in an educational system with censorship replaced by open discussion of all points of view. Doesn’t that seem to pretty much sum it up?
