If people had accepted that the earth was 6,000 years old, how would we have made the journey of discovery. There would have been no point, and the evidence you use would not have existed. But it doesn't deflect from the excitement and the possibilies of these new theories. I look forward to them giving a deeper understanding of the nature of things.
